Survey on perception of NATO membership in Norway 2022
As of February 2022, a large majority of Norwegians think that Norway should remain a member of the military alliance NATO. More than 95 percent of respondents are in favor of continued Norwegian membership in NATO. In the Norwegian parliament, only the two left-wing parties - the Socialist Left Party and the Red Party - are of the opinion that Norway should leave the military alliance. The survey was conducted only a few days after Russia invaded Ukraine at the end of February 2022, and Norway shares a 200 km long border with Russia to the north. The Scandinavian country has been a NATO member since the alliance was founded in 1949.
