Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride. China is the world's leading importing country of hydrochloric acid. In 2020, the East Asian country imported over five thousand metric tons of the acid, with a value of approximately 26 million U.S. dollars. Ranking second was the United States, which imported nearly 23 million U.S. dollars of hydrochloric acid. That year, Germany was the top exporting country of hydrochloric acid worldwide, with an export value that amounted to some 50.15 million U.S. dollars.
