Foodservice sales in the Netherlands 2019-2021, by sub-sector
The foodservice industry encompasses different types of operating entities such as full-service restaurants, fast-food restaurants, or cafés and bars. In 2020, foodservice sales in the Netherlands experienced a significant decrease compared to 2019 due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Numerous Dutch establishments had to close their doors to help prevent the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, a recovery was expected in 2021, with a sales increase of full-service restaurants to approximately 5.7 billion U.S. dollars.
