Production volume of soy proteins in Japan 2023, by type
In 2023, the bulk of the domestic production of soy-based proteins in Japan was granular proteins, with around 36.3 thousand tons, followed by powdered isolates at about 6.12 thousand tons. The total domestic production volume amounted to over 42.5 thousand tons. Soy proteins can be used as ingredients in processed foods or processed into textured vegetable proteins as a meat substitute.
