
Africa's installed renewable energy capacity 2010-2020 by technology
Hydropower accounted for some 65 percent of the renewable energy capacity in Africa as of 2020. That same year, the installed capacity from hydro resources reached around 37,000 megawatts. To follow, solar and wind power had an installed capacity of 10,600 megawatts and 6,500 megawatts, respectively. Overall, renewable energy capacity increased in the continent during the period observed.
