Number of lots traded at art and antique auctions in China 2020, by category
Porcelain, jade, and curio lots represented more than 30 percent of all lots sold at art and antique auctions in mainland China in 2020. Chinese paintings and calligraphy of all periods contributed a similar number of sold lots in the same year, while achieving significantly higher total sales. Although stamps and coins only generated less than two percent of the overall revenue in the cultural relic auction market, almost 30,000 stamp and coin lots were auctioned in 2020, ranking it one of the most important categories in the Chinese auction industry.
