Number of auction firms qualified to hold cultural relic auctions in China 2010-2020
The number of auction houses certified to hold cultural relic auctions in mainland China has grown significantly in the past decade. In 2020, more than 600 companies were holding permits to auction cultural relics, representing a growth of more than 130 percent from 2010. However, due to market fluctuations and the impact of COVID-19, fewer permit-carrying auction houses were holding auctions in 2020 than in previous years.
