Among the world regions analyzed in a 2021 study, Latin America and Asia-Pacific had the highest percentage of accepted e-commerce orders that turned out to be friendly fraud. Friendly fraud is a practice in which a consumer purchases a product or service online and subsequently files a claim with their bank - denying the purchase or claiming they did not receive their order - to receive a refund.
