In May 2021, approximately 60 percent of Canadian consumers reported that they planned on shopping for groceries at major grocery stores such as Walmart or Costco in the next six months. A large number, about 58 percent, planned on purchasing their groceries at traditional grocery stores such as Sobeys, Loblaw, or Metro. Only 3.2 percent planned to buy at convenience stores.
