Spending by streaming services on original content 2017-2021
In 2021, Netflix spent at least triple what other streaming services spent on creating original content. The streaming service spent over six billion U.S. dollars on original content thaty year, while the production costs of both Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ amounted to two to three billion dollars each. Hulu's spending on original content has been consistently low in comparison, going from 60 million U.S. dollars in 2017 to 210 million U.S. dollars in 2021. While Netflix's original content spending doubled between 2019 and 2021, Apple TV+ nearly tripled their original content spending between these years.
