Presidential election turnout according to French people's political orientation 2021
Abstention is likely to play an important role in the French presidential elections of April 2022. Less than a month before the first round, only a little less than two-thirds of French people registered to vote planned to go to the polls. This phenomenon has a definite impact on the electoral potential of the candidates, who are each affected in a different way, and has consequences on the electoral balance.
When surveyed in October 2021, voters on the right of the political spectrum seemed much more mobilized than those on the left: 66 percent of French people positioned on the right were certain to go to the polls, compared to 57 percent of those on the left.
