Natural gas rents as a share of GDP in Africa 2019, by country
In 2019, natural gas rents accounted for almost seven percent of Equatorial Guinea's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The country had the highest natural gas rents on the African continent in that year. Mozambique also relied significantly on the natural gas industry, as rents reached 2.3 percent of the economy. Algeria followed with natural gas rents accounting for 1.9 percent of the GDP.
