Dwelling construction starts in France 2000-2021, by building type and floor space
In 2021, most of the newly constructed floor space in France was dedicated to one-dwelling buildings. However, the constructed area of two-and-more dwelling buildings has been growing steadily since the year 2000.
These figures do not mean that there were more single-family homes constructed than any other type of dwelling. The reason for this is that each single-family home usually takes up more space than homes in buildings with more than one dwelling.
