Number of inpatients per doctor per day in Chinese hospitals 2015-2021

In 2021, every doctor in Chinese hospitals treated, on average, 2.2 inpatients per day, representing a decrease of around 15 percent from 2015. The figure varied significantly between different types of hospitals. Psychiatric hospital doctors treated an average of more than ten inpatients per doctor per day in 2021, while this figure stood at only 0.4 for doctors working in plastic surgery clinics.
