The first round of the presidential elections took place in France on Sunday, April 10, 2022, and candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen came out on top. Among the citizens who voted for the France Insoumise candidate (Jeau-Luc Mélenchon), who came third in the first round, almost half did not express any intention to vote on April 20, 2022, less than a week before the second round. This proportion rose to over 30 percent among people who had previously voted for Yannick Jadot and Valérie Pécresse, and to only 15 percent among voters of the far-right candidate Eric Zemmour.
