Convictions for violence against police Russia 2022

In 2022, the number of people convicted of violence against enforcement authorities in Russia was 8,261. This constituted an increase of nearly 10 percent from the previous year. Comparatively, only 463 police officers were convicted of brutality against Russian civilians in 2022.

Figures for convictions were calculated by summing the number of convicted under Section 1 ("The use of violence that is not dangerous to life or health, or the threat of violence against a representative of authority or his relatives in connection with the performance of his official duties") and Section 2 ("The use of violence dangerous to life or health in relation to the persons specified in the first section of the article") of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
