U.S. adults on potential metaverse issues 2022
An online survey conducted in the United States in March 2022 found that the largest worry for internet users regarding the metaverse was the safety of their personal data. Overall, 55 percent of respondents reported that tracking and misuse of their personal data was a major concern for them. Online abuse and cyberbullying ranked second, with 44 percent of respondents saying this issue was a major concern. In contrast, 40 percent of internet users stated that the environmental impact from energy consumption was not a concern at all, and 41 percent said they were also not worried about motion sickness from VR headsets.
