EU: transport CO₂ emissions by country 2021

Germany was the biggest contributor to the European Union's transportation emissions in 2021, with 143.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂). The second and third-largest emitters that year were Czechia and Italy, with 114.3 MtCO₂ and 92.1 MtCO₂, respectively. In 2021, most EU countries saw an increase in their transport-related emissions compared to 2020 levels, when emissions dropped as a result of COVID-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions throughout the year.
