According to a survey conducted in 2020, around 56 percent of the female media professionals in Africa experienced verbal sexual harassment at least once in the workplace. In contrast, the prevalence of verbal sexual harassment among men and gender nonconforming people working in news organizations stood at 24 percent and 50 percent, respectively. Physical sexual harassment was also more prevalent among women and gender nonconforming people than men.
