Climate change coverage in print news worldwide U.S. 2020-2021
Across the 108 print news outlets tracked by the source, a total of 6,574 news articles on climate change were published worldwide on March 1, 2021, up from 4,749 a year earlier. The number of articles was highest at the beginning of January 2020 but fell sharply in March of that year, in line with the time that the COVID-19 pandemic began to dominate coverage on a global level. Media coverage of climate change increased in late summer 2020 and the number of news articles covering the time remained above 5,500 in every month from September 2020 to the end of the year, and in the first quarter of 2021.
