Annual number of credit card transactions in Canada 2012-2022, per capita
The number of times a person in Canada used a credit card for payments increased by roughly 15 percent between 2019 and 2020. This brought the per capita use of credit cards to a figure over 200, a number four times that of the United Kingdom in 2020. Canada's POS payment behavior did not change much since COVID-19, as credit cards remained, by far, the most popular in-store payment method in the country.
