In 2023, Huawei generated a revenue of 362 billion yuan from its carrier business. From the segment revenue, it becomes evident that originally Huawei was not mainly a smartphone or consumer electronics company. Instead, the company's core business used to be the carrier business, which included telecommunication infrastructure such as network base stations. With the consumer business losing almost half of its revenue in 2021, other segments are gaining more relevance again.
