Spending on sports TV rights from subscription streaming in Europe 2021, by country
Live sports and sports content offerings are the newly emerging competition ground for streaming services. In 2021, over 50 percent of sports-related TV rights spending generated in Italy could be attributed to subscription over-the-top (OTT) streaming services. This was by far the highest proportion of selected major European countries, with Germany coming in second at just over 30 percent of sports spending generated by OTT services.
