A survey conducted at the end of 2021 looking at the effects of COVID-19 on newsrooms across the United States found that most radio newsrooms had not canceled local news due to the pandemic and economic disruption, with 95.1 percent of commercial stations and 83.1 percent of non-commercial stations saying that had not done so. However, there was a clear difference when it came to commercial versus non-commercial stations.
