Change in emotional and mental health during COVID-19 pandemic in Italy 2021
at the pandemic's early stages, Italy recorded higher mortality rates than most countries. Moreover, restrictions imposed by the government to contain the virus from spreading, including a full nation-wide lockdown in the spring of 2020, changed Italians' daily life considerably. The whole situation proved to be burdensome for regular citizens. In a survey carried out one year after the the pandemic started, 55 percent of the respondents reported a worsening in their emotional and mental health, against just eight percent who declared their well-being had improved.
