The energy consumed by Canada's chemical industry amounted to some 258.58 petajoules in 2023, down from 259.75 petajoules one year earlier. This represents a decline of roughly 14 percent in comparison to 2014, when Canada's chemical sector reported its highest consumption of energy within the indicated period, surpassing 300 petajoules. Meanwhile, the greenhouse gas emissions of Canada's chemical industry amounted to 5.8 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2022.
