A survey from 2021 found that between September and October 2021 around 34 percent of adults in the U.S. with an annual household income of less than 24 thousand U.S. dollars stated in the last three months they or someone in their household did not seek treatment for a health problem they had due to the cost. The respondents were asked to answer the following question: "Has there been a time in the last three months when you or a member of your household had a health problem, but you did not seek treatment due to the cost of care?"
"Results are based on a survey conducted by web over successive field periods of Sept. 27-30 and Oct. 18-21, with 6,663 adults aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia..." Surveys were also conducted in "March 15-21 (n=3,905) and June 14-20, 2021 (n=4,843)."
