As of 2015, the majority of informal caregivers of adults over 50 years receiving informal care in Italy were family members living outside the household. Caregivers belonging to this category accounted for 54.6 percent of the 636 informal caregivers surveyed. This graph shows the distribution of caregivers of adults aged 50 years and above who received informal care in Italy between 2004 and 2015, by identity of the caregiver.

Around 580 adults aged over 50 years who were receiving informal care were interviewed. Although total receivers were 580, the total number of caregivers amounted to 636 as some individuals received simultaneous informal care from inside and outside the household. Therefore, percentages have been calculated based on the number of total caregivers and rounded.
