Monthly wholesale electricity prices in Romania 2019-2023
In March 2023, the average wholesale electricity price in Romania stood at around 108 euros per megawatt-hour. Electricity prices in the country, and in Europe in general, had been consistently increasing for more than a year, a trend aggravated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022. In August 2022, wholesale electricity prices in Romania surpassed 490 euros per megawatt-hour.
