Share of NHS revenue expenditure going to staff pay 2013-2022
From 2013 to 2022, the share of revenue expenditure spent by the NHS on permanent and bank staff ranged around 45 percent. Despite the drop in shares in 2020/21, the proportion of revenue expenditure consumed by pay bill has increased again to 45.2 percent in year 2021/22, where the NHS provider staff spend was over 66 billion British pounds.
