
Access to the electric grid in Africa 2019-2021, by country
On average, nearly 70 percent of the population in Africa lived in enumeration areas with access to an electric grid. However, the accessibility varied greatly among countries. In Morocco and Tunisia, all enumeration areas were served by a grid. Additionally, the share surpassed 90 percent in Mauritius, Eswatini, South Africa, Cabo Verde, Botswana, Ghana, and Gabon. On the other hand, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia recorded the lowest access rates, each by roughly 30 percent.
