According to a survey conducted in Japan in December 2022, about four out of five Japanese high school students watch anime. More than half of the respondents stated to watch it at least once per week. Only a small minority of 19 percent stated to not watch anime at all.

Specific ages of the respondents were not given. Japanese high school students are generally between the age of 16 to 18 with some outliers starting one year younger or graduating one year older.
