Japan: share of high school students with favorite anime voice actors

According to a survey conducted in Japan from October to November 2021, 59 percent of Japanese high school students who watch anime had at least one favorite voice actor or actress. A breakdown by gender showed that there were only minor discrepancies between male and female students.

Specific ages of the respondents were not given. Japanese high school students are generally between the age of 16 to 18 with some outliers starting one year younger or graduating one year older.

Respondents who stated that they do not watch anime at all were excluded from the original survey sample size of 1,041 respondents.
