Share of Canadians thinking borders should be completely closed to refugees 2019-2022
When interviewed ahead of the World Refugee Day of 2022, one out of five Canadians was convinced that Canada must close its borders to refugees entirely, and that the country could not accept any at this time. This is a 20 percentage point decrease from the previous year, when 42 percent of Canadians shared this opinion, but only an eight point decrease compared to 2019, when Canadians holding this view represented about 29 percent of those surveyed.
