Consumer loan interest rates in the euro area 2023, by country

As of January 2023, Malta was the country in the euro area with the highest annualised interest rate for consumer loans and other credit amounting to over 127 percent. The average interest rate for a consumer loan in the euro area was approximately 4.7 percent. France, the Netherlands, and Belgium were some of the countries with the lowest interest rates for consumer loans at less than three percent. Meanwhile, consumer loans with a floating rate and up to one year had the highest interest rates in the eurozone in 2022.
