The value of investment into SCPIs in France increased for the second quarter in a row in the first quarter of 2022, reaching over 2.6 billion euros. SCPIs, or Société Civile de Placement dans l’Immobilier, are private companies that invest in and manage real estate. Similar to real estate investment trusts (REITs), which are widely popular in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, SCPIs issue shares and distribute dividends to investors. Unlike REITs, however, SCPIs cannot be listed on the stock exchange. In the first quarter of 2022, office real estate accounted for roughly 1.3 billion euros in net inflows.
