Value added of travel and tourism to GDP in Egypt 2019-2021
Travel and tourism added over 22 billion U.S. dollars to Egypt's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2021. Compared to 2020, this was an increase from 17 billion U.S. dollars. The sector's contribution to the country's economy declined almost by half compared to 2019 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2019, the value added by tourism to the Egyptian GDP reached around 34 billion U.S. dollars.
