In 2021, international visitors spent approximately 25.9 billion U.S. dollars in Africa. This was an 11.3 percent increase from the year before. Despite the improvement, international tourist expenditure remained below the level recorded in 2019, previous to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
