Apps generating more than one million U.S. dollars from U.S. consumers 2016-2022

Between 2016 and 2022, the number of apps surpassing the milestone of more than one million U.S. dollars in spending from users in the United States experienced a constant increase. During the second quarter of 2022, 400 apps generated over one million U.S. dollars from U.S. users, while seven apps generated more than 50 million U.S. dollars during the same quarter: YouTube, HBO Max, TikTok, Tinder, Disney+, Hulu, and Bumble. App publishers with a consume spending of over 10 million U.S. dollars grew by 190 percent between 2019 and 2022. According to the Apple App Store policies, standard commission rates for apps are set at 30 percent, while for subscription apps that mange to retain users the commission rates drop to 15 percent after the first year.
