According to a survey on pet ownership conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2022, 17 percent of the respondents in Singapore indicated that the main reason for them to get a pet during COVID-19 lockdown was because they were lonely. On the other hand, 22 percent of the respondents indicated that the main reason for them to get a pet was because they were bored.
