Industries with the highest share of women board directors in the U.S. 2014-2021
Between 2014 and 2021, the consumer business industry led the way in terms of gender diversity on the board of directors. In 2021, the share of women on boards in this industry was more than 27 percent. Technology, media, and telecommunications ranked second, with almost 25 percent of the board seats taken by women in 2021. The share of women directors in the manufacturing industry, as well as in the life science and health care industry was 23.3 percent. Financial services ranked fifth, with slightly more than 23 percent of the board seats filled by women in 2021.
