Greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from the chemical industry in the United States amounted to roughly 186.5 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent (MtCO2eq) in 2021, slightly up from some 184.4 MtCO2eq in the previous year. This figure still represents an increase of roughly 6.1 MtCO2eq when compared to 2011 levels.
