As of October 2020, there were around 6.7 thousand inpatients aged 90 years and older per 100,000 inhabitants in Japan in a day. After passing the years of infants and toddlers, the rate of treated inpatients increased exponentially.

Rate of treated patients per day = estimated number of patients / total population (based on the national census) x 100,000
The estimated number of patients refers to the number of patients who received treatments at medical facilities on the surveyed day. It excludes the number of returning outpatients who were not treated during that period.
