Coal power capacity of major utilities in Europe 2021

Polish utility PGE has the highest installed coal power capacity of any major utility in Europe. As of 2021, PGE's coal power plants had a combined capacity of nearly 13 gigawatts. This figures includes the lignite-fueled Bełchatów power station, which is the largest coal power plant and biggest polluter in the European Union. The coal plant is responsible for around 30 million metric tons of CO2 released every year.
