Most of the early-stage startup funding in Africa went to Nigeria in 2021. That year, the country received
17.6 percent of the total number of funding in Africa. Closely following this were startups in Egypt, which accounted for 17.3 percent of the funding. Overall, West Africa was the leading region in terms of early-stage startup funding in Africa as of 2021.
