Under the policies in place as of June 2022, greenhouse gas emissions in the United States were estimated to decrease by 24 percent below 2005 levels on a high emissions scenario, and by up to 35 percent in a low emissions scenario. By 2035, reductions were expected to lie between 26 and 41 percent below 2005 levels. Both emission scenarios show existing policies are not enough to put the U.S. on track to meet its 2030 Paris Agreement target of 50 to 52 percent emissions reductions below 2005 levels by 2030.
