Over the past three decades, the global death rates of both genders decreased. However, there has been an increase since 2019 among both women and men, which must, in part, be seen in relation with the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, there were 206 deaths per 1,000 men between 15 and 60 years, and 138 per 1,000 women of the same age.
