Popular game subgenres India 2020-2021, by consumer spend
Indian consumers spent the most on 4X March-Battle games that were categorized under the strategy genre of mobile gaming, grossing over 20 million U.S. dollars in 2021. Battle Royale shooting games ranked second with a consumer expenditure of about 19 million U.S. dollars that year. The consumer spending made by Indian mobile gamers saw a decline across the spectrum of leading sub-genres between 2020 and 2021.
