Average spot prices of European Emission Allowances (EUA) 2010-2023

The average closing spot price of European Emission Allowances (EUAs) increased by 4.9 percent in 2023 to reach 49.6 euros per metric ton of carbon dioxide. The average closing spot price of EUAs has increased notably since reforms were made to the EU ETS in 2018. EU Carbon prices are volatile and change on a daily basis. Prices are determined by the supply and demand of allowances.
