Adults who preferred to watch films in a theater or at home in the U.S. 2018-2022
In August 2022, the shares of adults surveyed in the United States who preferred to watch movies at home and in theaters stood at 55 and 37 percent, respectively. Over four years earlier, in February 2018, the figures were significantly closer, at 47 ad 45 percent. Between 2018 and 2021, the number of movie tickets sold in the U.S. and Canada decreased by more than 60 percent.
